Caribbean Sun

The Caribbean has thrilled travellers for centuries, offering visitors a heady mix of vibrant music, historical culture, watersports, areas of natural beauty and soaring mountain ranges. Every island has a unique history and flavour from miles of white sandy beaches to rain forest adventures that will suit couples, families and groups of friends seeking a sun-soaked holiday.

Barbados

It might take you a few days to slow down to the relaxed pace of life, but you’ll soon get the swing of things. As well as ‘limin’ (chilling out) on Beautiful Beautiful Barbados as the song goes you will have to find time for some ‘wining’ (not a couple of glasses of vino – it’s Bajan dancing). There is some much to see in Barbados you will have to put down the rum punch for a while and venture out to see some nearby towns and villages to soak up the local flavour. The best way to really understand Barbados is to take to the water with a catamaran tour giving you a different perspective, while snorkelling fans will enjoy spectacular underwater scenery.

The south of the island has buzzing nightlife, with a multitude of restaurants, bars and entertainment options. The west coast boasts the island’s classic white sand beaches framed by tropical fronds. Watching a game of cricket – be it Test visitors at the Oval in the capital city Bridgetown, or a local village game on a rough patch of grass – is always a delight. And wherever you go, the warmth of the local people is bound to be an abiding memory for years to come.

Antigua

Very laid-back. With 365 stunning beaches on the island of Antigua, holidays here provide the perfect blend of sand, sun and crystal water. There’s a nearly unbroken wall of coral reef that makes for a fantastic scuba diving or snorkeling experience. And several of the beaches are really well protected by the reef, making them especially good for families. You have the choice of the busier North West coast, with its more developed resorts; or the tranquil South West corner, where your Antigua holiday will be a real escape to peace and quiet.

Holidays to Antigua aren't just about beaches either. Elsewhere, Horatio Nelson's fully restored dockyard makes for a great day out, as does the capital St John's with its lively market and duty-free shops. Or you can take to the sea on a hired boat and explore Barbuda, about 30 miles north. For panoramic views, climb Boggy Peak, the highest point on Antigua. Or visit Sea View Farm Village to see how folk pottery is made here.

Holidays in Antigua tend to be nice and slow, and the nightlife is low-key, involving lots of time chilling out in the many restaurants or bars – although some of the hotels boast casinos if you fancy your luck. Read on for more information about our great selection of Antigua holidays!

St Lucia

St Lucia holidays are something special. Combine a sense of wonder with total relaxation and a whole lot of fun, and you’ll get some idea of how it feels to be here. It’s a truly exotic destination, and unbelievably beautiful. No wonder so many couples choose a honeymoon in St Lucia. Gorgeous sandy beaches, brilliant sunshine and sunsets, sparkling water… tropical islands just don’t come more romantic than this!

There’s also lots to do if you’re the adventurous type. You can explore on foot, by mountain bike, or even on horseback. Most of the hotels are on the northwest coast, so we highly recommend you take some excursions round the island to appreciate its diversity. You could even hire a Jeep and drive where the fancy takes you! The famous Pitons are an essential stop, as is the drive-in volcano and botanical gardens. Holidays to St Lucia also have some exciting experiences to offer nature lovers, who may be lucky enough to spot the leatherback turtles who come ashore between mid-March and September to nest.

At night the pace is very relaxed, although Rodney Bay has a wide choice of bars and restaurants with live music and plenty going on.

Grenada

Perfect for a romantic, tranquil getaway, the island is only 22 miles by 12 miles with a largely rural, undeveloped feel to it. Spoil yourself with an all-inclusive hotel, or make use of the island's choice restaurants and convenient supermarkets if staying on room-only basis. The people delight in welcoming visitors to their island and are some of the most polite and friendly you can hope to meet. Take time out to explore the island's lush, tropical interior, filled with forest and jungle, the most spectacular of which is the Grand Etang National Park, home to Concord Falls, monkeys and exotic birds. The neighbouring isle of Carriacou is also perfect for a day trip. Affectionately known as the 'spice isle', Grenada's charms will intoxicate you. A third of the world's nutmeg is grown here as well as cloves and mace.

Jamaica

The classic Caribbean attractions of palm-lined beaches and a wide range of water sports are very much in evidence on this large island, but Jamaica is also spectacularly beautiful. To say that Jamaica holidays are memorable doesn’t even scratch the surface. This is the island where time stands still, so expect to relax more completely than ever before. Not that you won’t be busy! There’s a phenomenal range of things to do here, especially if you like to be outdoors. Rolling hills contrast with steep gullies and the towering Blue Mountains beg to be explored. Dunn's River Falls is also breathtaking – both the view and the climb! Your holiday in Jamaica could just be about lying on the beach or it could include trekking through tropical forests, horse riding on the beach, rock climbing up waterfalls, rafting upriver… Or else how about a relaxed round of golf on a championship course, or just some great shopping and a nice lunch? There's really something for everyone here.

The island’s strong musical culture is everywhere too – Bob Marley's legend and music really does live on here, and if you’re a fan, be sure to visit Nine Mile - his birthplace in Jamaica. Holiday makers who like things a bit lively choose the Montego Bay resort – it has a vibrant 'Hip Strip' with a good selection of bars and shops. Negril is more laid-back, spread out along a beautiful 7-mile stretch of golden beach. Ocho Rios is a world-class destination. Larger than Negril, its duty-free shopping is very popular and it's well situated for visiting all the major attractions. Read on to find out more about our fantastic range of Jamaica holidays.

Cuba

If you're looking for a Caribbean experience that's really not like anywhere else in these turquoise seas, it has to be Cuba. In Cuba, holidays have that ‘something special’ that sets them apart. The Caribbean's biggest island offers all the pleasures we associate with this part of the world: sun, sea, sand and a laid-back vibe - but with a difference. For Cuba's extraordinary history, its years of self-sufficiency and its unique Afro-Latin culture make for a holiday destination that's like nowhere else on earth.

You'll also be totally enchanted by the beautiful colonial buildings and romantically faded grandeur of the capital, Havana. Holidays here provide a chance to take in some of the best Spanish colonial architecture in the Americas, much of it untouched since it was built! Wander down the quaint street Calle Obispo to admire the old-fashioned shop windows and tiny cafés. This leads to Plaza de Armas with its fine old buildings. Don't forget to visit Castillo de la Punta and Castillo de la Real Fuerza - Cuba's oldest building.

After all this culture you'll probably need a break, and where better than the island's famed beach destination - Varadero, famous for its unspoiled white sands and crystal-clear waters. Alternatively you can escape to relax on the beautiful, untouched island of Cayo Santa Maria or snorkel through the fantastic corals and reefs off Guardalavaca. If you're looking for an all inclusive holiday, Cuba is a fabulous destination. A growing number of resorts here offer all-inclusive packages - and these are Caribbean all-inclusive experiences with a difference too. Because the island is largely self-sufficient, you can sample truly local food and drink, rather than the international brands we're so used to.

You can't possibly have escaped the worldwide salsa craze, and in Cuba you can experience that wonderful music to the max. Come and sample it all, immersing yourself in the spirit of Cuba - drink the rum, smoke the cigars, dance the salsa and live 'la vida dulce'!
